Dried herbs to study in beginners' herbalism

Begin Here

When you're new to the world of herbs, it can feel overwhelming and even intimidating. There's a new trendy herb or supplement out every month and the sheer amount of information that contradicts itself is exhausting. So where do you begin? The best place to start for you may be the simple question of why. Why are you interested in learning about herbalism or in taking herbal supplements? Are you looking to improve your health or a loved one? Are you trying to live closer to the Earth or perhaps living more naturally? Answering your why will help you determine how much time you'd like to spend learning about herbs, how many herbs to buy to begin with, and what kind of herbs to research. Listed below will be books and teachers that are a good place to start. Whichever path you choose, the best way to learn about herbalism is pick an herb you're drawn to and research it, grow it (if possible), draw it, and taste it (make sure it's the correct herb before tasting). My favorite herb to begin with is Nettle Leaf (Urtica Dioica). But begin with whatever one you are drawn to.
