The Earth Element
"I need to come back down to earth."
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Earth is the element of nourishment, digestion, stability, and centeredness.
Earth is traditionally associated with the Spleen and Stomach*, which transform food and drink into resources the body uses to nourish itself.
But Earth is about more than digestion.
It's the feeling of being rooted, supported, steady, and nourished enough to meet the world around you.
Think of fertile soil. It doesn't rush. It receives, transforms, nourishes, and gives back.
*A Note on Traditional Chinese Medicine
The Five Elements- Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water- are part of Traditional Chinese Medicine theory. They describe relationships and patterns within the body, mind, emotions, seasons, and natural world.
The terms used here (including Kidney, Liver, Spleen, Qi, Blood, and other Chinese medicine concepts) refer to Traditional Chinese Medicine theory and do not correspond directly to anatomical organs or biomedical diagnoses.

Why Nourish Earth?
It's difficult to feel grounded when we're running on empty.
Earth reminds us that nourishment is foundational.
Food, rest, digestion, routine, connection, and the simple act of caring for the physical body all contribute to our sense of stability.
In TCM, the Spleen and Stomach are central to the process of transforming what we consume into usable nourishment.
Earth Tea honors that process with warming roots, aromatic spices, and gentle nourishment.
It's a tea for coming back to center.
The Herbal Formula
Ashwagandha Root
Ashwagandha is a deeply grounding botanical used in Ayurveda as a nourishing and restorative herb. Its earthy flavor gives the blend a substantial foundation.
Why it's here: Represents the deep roots of Earth while supporting resilience and restoration.
Milky Oat Tops
Oat tops bring a soft, grassy quality and a gentle nutritive character to the blend. Valued as a nourishing Western herb, Oats have long been associated with restoration and everyday sustenance.
Why it's here: Adds softness and nourishment to the grounding roots and warming spices.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon brings warmth, sweetness, and depth. It has a long history of traditional digestive and circulatory support and gives Earth tea its comforting character.
Why it's here: Provides warmth and familiarity while complementing the earthy roots.
Ginger
Ginger is a classic warming digestive botanical used across many traditional herbal systems. Its spicy character helps enliven the deeper flavors of ashwagandha and oats.
Why it's here: Warms and supports digestion while keeping the formula lively rather than heavy.
Cardamom
Cardamom is a fragrant warming spice used to support digestion and ease digestive discomfort. Its bright aromatic character keeps the blend from becoming too heavy.
Why it's here: Encourages digestive movement while adding sweetness and aromatic lift.
The Earth Ritual
Earth asks us to slow down enough to receive.
Make your tea when you've been moving too quickly.
Let the spices warm your hands as you hold the cup. Take a few breaths before the first sip. Then ask:
What would nourish me today, not just what would make me more productive?
Maybe it's a proper meal. Maybe it's rest. Maybe it's saying no. Maybe it's sitting somewhere quiet with someone you love.
Let the ritual remind you that being nourished is not something you have to earn.
You are allowed to receive.
Come home to your body. Find your center. Let yourself be nourished.

FAQ
FAQ
What does the Earth element represent? Earth is associated with nourishment, digestion, stability, centeredness, and the ability to transform what we receive into something useful. It is associated with the Spleen and Stomach systems in TCM.
Is Earth tea a digestive tea? Digestive support is an important Earth concept, but this isn't simply a digestive formula. It is designed around the broader themes of nourishment, grounding, and coming back to center.
Can I drink this tea every day? For most healthy adults, Earth tea can be enjoyed as part of a varied herbal tea routine. Because it contains Ashwagandha and several warming herbs, consult your healthcare practitioner before regular use if you have a diagnosed medical condition or take prescription medications. Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
Is this tea spicy? It has a gentle warming spice profile from ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom, but it's intended to taste hot or intensely spicy. Ashwagandha and oat tops soften the spices and give the tea a deeper, rounder flavor.
