FAQ
FAQ
What makes this different from tea? These blends were created for the kitchen as much as the teacup. They're crafted to be simmered into broths, soups, stews, and porridges, though they can also be enjoyed as a long steeped herbal infusion. Think of them as pantry staples inspired by the traditions of herbalism and food medicine.
What does this blend taste like? Rich, earthy, and savory with deep mushroom notes and subtle warmth from black pepper.
What is an herbal simmer blend? Unlike a traditional tea, an herbal simmer blend is designed to be gently simmered for 30-90 minutes. This longer cooking time allows the roots, fruits, mushrooms, and herbs to infuse broths, soups, and other recipes with rich flavor and traditional herbal character.
Can I drink it as a tea? Yes! While these blends shine in broths and soups, they also make delicious sipping broths or long steeped herbal teas.
Can I reuse the herbs? For the richest flavor, we recommend one long simmer. Some enjoy a second, lighter simmer, especially when making a broth.
Do I need the simmer bag? No, but the reusable simmer bag makes cleanup and straining much easier by keeping the herbs contained while they infuse your broth.
Are these blends salty? No. They contain only herbs, mushrooms, roots, fruits, and spices. Add salt, seasoning, or miso to taste.
