For when you feel scattered, disconnected, emotionally unsettled, or like you're having trouble being fully present
The Spirit• The Heart• The Spark Within
"I want to feel more connected to myself and the people around me."
In Chinese medicine, Shen is the spirit housed in the Heart*. The aspect of ourselves associated with consciousness, awareness, connection, joy, and our ability to be fully present in our lives.
Shen isn't simply "the mind." It's the luminous quality that makes us feel alive, connected, and at home with ourselves.
When Shen is well nourished, we may feel more present, receptive, joyful, and connected to ourselves and the world around us.
This formula was created as a gentle herbal offering for those moments when the inner light feels a little dim, the heart feels closed, or life has become more noise than presence
*A Note on Traditional Chinese Medicine

Why Nourish Shen?
Sometimes what we need isn't another thing to accomplish.
It's a moment of presence.
Youmay find yourself drawn to Shen when you feel:
- Emotionally closed or disconnected
- Unable to fully settle into the present moment
- Mentally busy but spiritually tired
- Like you've lost touch with joy or pleasure
- In need of softness after a demanding season
- Longing to reconnect with yourself
Shen isn't about forcing happiness.
It's about creating space for the qualities that are already within you to become more accessible.
When You Need More Support
Sometimes the Soul that needs tending isn't the only layer asking for attention. The other Root to Bone collections can offer another layer of support, depending on what you're experiencing.
- If you feel: Disconnected, mentally scattered, and like you've lost your spark
That's a Shen conversation. Try: Shen + Fire Element Tea

- If you feel: Exhausted. Like you don't have enough energy to feel like yourself.
That's different. Try: Shen + Gather Qi
For nourishing the physical foundation of Qi while tending the spirit.
- If you feel: Depleted, dry, emotionally fragile, and exhausted
This may point toward a deeper need for nourishment. Try: Shen + Deep yin or Rooted Blood
For nourishing the physical terrain while offering gentle support to the Heart and spirit.
- If you feel: Stuck, frustrated, and unable, to move forward.
That's less about Shen and more about movement, Try: Flowing Qi + Wood Element tea
For supporting the movement of Qi while cultivating the expansive, forward moving quality of Wood.
- If you feel: Your body is depleted, but also emotionally disconnected from yourself.
That's a both/and situation. Try: Gather Qi + Shen
Build the physical foundation while tending the spirit.
- If you feel: Like you need to slow down, but can't seem to settle into yourself.
Try: Shen + Earth Element tea
For creating a grounding ritual that nourishes the spirit and returns attention to the center.

Pour your tincture slowly into a cup of tea or a little water.
Before drinking, place one hand over your heart and take several unhurried breaths. Ask yourself:

FAQ
Can I take Shen every day? Shen was crafted as a gentle, supportive formula that can be incorporated into a daily herbal ritual. However, everyone's needs are different, so consider your individual circumstances and consult a qualified practitioner if you're unsure.
Can I put Shen in tea? Absolutely. Try adding it to your favorite Five Elements tea, or simply to warm water or another cup of herbal tea.
Does Shen make me sleepy? Shen is not formulated as asleep preparation. Its intention is to settle and nourish the spirit while supporting presence and emotional ease, rather than induce sleep.
Why is Silk Tree Bark in a Shen formula? In Chinese herbalism, He Huan Pi (Silk tree bark) has a relationship with the Heart and spirit. Its inclusion gives this formula a distinctly Shen- centered quality: helping create space for lightness, openness, and emotional release.
