Happy 2025!
We hope you all had a wonderful and safe New Years! This time of year, many people start thinking of what they'd like to accomplish in the new year, and whether you set goals or resolutions now, in the spring or just whenever you feel like it, if learning more about herbalism is on your list, here is a very small and not at all overwhelming little list of some of our favorite herbs to get familiar with this year.
Herbs to get to know this year
Little snippets of herbs you may want to get to know. If you're interested in learning more, check out this blog post for our favorite herbal resources.
1. Reishi Mushroom (Ganoderma). This beautiful and bitter mushroom is known as the "mushroom of immortality." This versatile and loved mushroom has a long history of use and benefits, especially in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Reishi calms anxiety and eases stress, improves circulation and improves sleep, restores vitality as well as is helpful in asthma, allergies, and under functioning immune conditions. We use Reishi in our Deep Sleep Blend and our Cocoa with Mushrooms.
2. Tulsi (aka Holy Basil) (Ocimum sanctum). This gorgeous smelling herb is fairly easy to grow and tastes best fresh. Its calming to the nervous system, helping you deal with stress and anxiety. It does energize some but not in an intense caffeine like way. Tulsi is the star of our Stress Less Tea Blend.
3. Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora). Skullcap nourishes your nervous system, helping to relax, ease stress, and make everything a little less irritating to you. Good for all ages, it helps with insomnia but also helps with muscle tension, meaning it may ease sciatic pain and headaches. Skullcap is used in our Calm Mind Tincture.
